Job Role

The quality and technical function within ABP ensures that our products are safe, legally compliant and meet with our customer quality requirements.

We lead the industry with our technical programmes providing the commercial teams with the best possible platform to develop business with a wide range of customers.

Our graduate programme will provide individuals with a thorough understanding of all technical aspects of our business from abattoir to finished product.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Your ultimate goal will be to progress towards becoming a Technical manager at one of our sites in the UK. From day one, you’ll get real responsibility and the opportunity to work alongside senior management teams.

Your journey will take in everything from understanding Animal Welfare to ensuring that all relevant technical legislation, ABP protocols and customer policies are communicated effectively throughout the business and that systems are put in place to monitor and review compliance.

By the end of the training programme, you’ll be equipped to champion quality and technical throughout the business.

Knowledge & Experience We’re looking for food science, or related graduates that are:

  • Passionate about working in the food industry
  • Have an appreciation for the complexities that come with a career in the red meat industry
  • Analytical in their approach

Our under-graduate programme will provide individuals with a thorough understanding of all technical aspects of our business from abattoir to finished product.

This is a fantastic opportunity for undergraduates who wish to pursue a career in the fresh food industry. It will provide individuals with practical experience of working for one of the largest meat businesses in Europe.

Undergraduate programme

The twelve month undergraduate programme will ensure that you gain hands-on, practical experience of all aspects of the meat supply chain. Time will be spent on farm, in an abattoir, boning hall and a retail packing operation. Sites will be situated within the UK so you will need to be flexible on your location.

At each point in the chain you will meet and work with technical and quality team members gaining an understanding of their roles and how they contribute to ensuring that the products we sell are safe, compliant and meet quality requirements.

Knowledge & Experience

We’re looking for undergraduates studying for a degree in food-science or related science discipline eg microbiology, animal science or biological sciences. In addition individuals should:

• Have a clear interest in developing a career within the food industry • Demonstrate an analytical approach to problem solving • Be great communicators with an ability to influence others • Be keen on detail • Hold a full UK driving licence

ABP UK Talent Academy Communications Graduate

Job Role

ABP UK is a diverse business with sites located throughout the UK, offering products from frozen meat-free product to major retailers, to high quality fresh beef to Michelin Star restaurants and everything in between. The business continues to go from strength to strength across all our activities with ever improving Communications at the heart of this. We’re introducing a new Graduate placement in our growing Communications department to ensure continue to develop our internal and external communications strategy whilst keeping our colleagues, suppliers and customers up to speed with latest developments throughout the group.

Main duties and responsibilities From day one, you will play an integral part in the communications strategy of ABP UK. Networking with colleagues throughout our 15 sites and managing information flows across all departments.

You will be responsible for amongst other things, updating ABP websites and social media channels, managing our internal newsletter and providing briefing documents for our Board of Directors. We’re looking for an exceptional candidate who can demonstrate: • A passion for food and the industry • A keen eye for detail • Strong written and verbal communicator with an ability to influence others • High level of computer literacy • A full UK driving licence • Some domestic and potentially international travel will be required.
